Police foil robbery in Abuja, kill one suspect

 The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have foiled a robbery attempt and killed one suspected robber during a gun duel in Giri Village, behind the University of Abuja Staff Quarters.

Sources said the incident occurred at about 3:20 a.m. when armed robbers invaded the area.

In a swift response, police patrol teams from Tungan Maje Division, in collaboration with members of the Civilian JTF and vigilantes, were mobilised to the scene and engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle.

One of the suspects sustained bullet injuries and was rushed to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty, while others escaped.

Items recovered from the scene include a POS machine, four mobile phones and a cutlass.

The sources said efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
