 Armed bandits on Wednesday launched multiple attacks in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing three local security operatives and ambushing a team of Mobile Police (MOPOL) officers near Tsafe town. Zagazola Makama gathered from sources, that the incident occurred early Wednesday morning when members of the Askarawa security outfit and their counterparts from the Yan Maiduguri group were on their way to Sungawa village for a rescue operation. The operatives reportedly ran into an ambush laid by armed bandits, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire. Three members of the team were killed on the spot, two from the Askarawa unit and one from the Yan Maiduguri group. Those who lost their lives were identified as Sani Lawali (popularly known as Danjinjiri) and Garba Sarkin Arna, both from the Askarawa vigilante, and Umar Mustapha, a member of the Yan Maiduguri team.  A 60-year-old cattle owner, Abubakar Umoru of Olokemeji Village in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State, has reported the death of three of his cows allegedly poisoned by suspected farm workers. Umoru said his cattle, valued at about N3 million, died after consuming cassava tubers laced with a grey powdery substance believed to be poison along a farm path near the property of one Sunday Sanni. He alleged that two of Sanni’s farm workers, including one known as “Yellow,” had earlier assaulted his son, Abu Abubakar, and inflicted machete cuts on six of his cows before the poisoning incident. Following the complaint, one of the suspects was arrested, while efforts are ongoing to track down the two accomplices who are currently at large.

 Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE conducted a deliberate ambush operation on 15 October 2025. The operation took place east of Ayilamo, within Tombo council ward of Logo Local Government Area, Benue State.   The team of medical experts set up by a Federal High Court to ascertain the health status of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has submitted its report. The team, led by President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) told the court that Kanu’s illness wasn’t life-threatening. The team concluded that Kanu is fit to stand trial. The medical team was ordered by Justice James Omotosho, to ascertain Kanu’s actual health status following conflicting claims on the issue by medical experts engaged by the prosecution and the defence. In the panel’s report, submitted to the court on October 13 by the prosecution team led by Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), part of which was read in the open court during Thursday’s proceedings, it was stated the the defendant’s ailment is not life threatening. A Customs officer, identified as Assistant Superintendent of Customs (ASC) Lawal Tukur, has been found dead in a hotel room in Katsina metropolis. Zagazola report that the  incident occurred on Oct. 15 at Murjani Hotel, Katsina, where the deceased had lodged. According to reports, hotel staff discovered the officer lying lifeless in his room at about 8:30 a.m. and immediately raised the alarm. Sources at the hotel said some empty sachets of suspected substances were found in the waste basket of the room. Three women, identified as Khadija Ali, 34, of Dutsin Amare Quarters, Katsina; Aisha Lawal, 30, of Ingawa Local Government Area; and Hafsat Yusuf, 22, of Brigade Quarters, Kano, were reportedly in the hotel at the time of the incident. Bandits attack travellers in Niger, five injured

 Armed bandits have attacked a private vehicle along the New-Bussa–Babanna Road in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, leaving five persons injured. Zagazola Makama learnt that the  incident occurred on Sunday at about 4:00 p.m. when the victims, identified as Alhaji Fatayi Raheemi, his wife and family members, were travelling in a Mercedes Compressor car from New-Bussa to Babanna. Sources said the hoodlums opened fire on the moving vehicle near Ehka Kuka/Audu Fari village, resulting in gunshot injuries to all occupants. Security  patrol team from Babanna Division later evacuated the victims Fatayi Raheemi, 38; Fatima Nurudeen, 27; Munirat Isyaka, 25; Aishat Ismail, 25; and Rashidat Fatayi, 30 to the Primary Health Centre, Babanna, where they are receiving treatment. The vehicle was recovered to the Babanna Police Station, while efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators.

Colonel Michael Randrianirina, who led a mutiny alongside youth-led protesters, announced on national radio, “We have taken the power.” The crisis erupted after President Andry Rajoelina fled the country amid mounting pressure from widespread Gen Z protests demanding his resignation.  In a coordinated operation to enhance security across the Joint Operations Area, troops of Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE (JTF OPEP) in collaboration with that of Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) tracked and  apprehended two notorious gunrunners on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. The suspects, Mr. Abdullahi Balarabe (40) and his wife, Shafaatu Abdullahi (18), were intercepted at a snap checkpoint established by the joint troops of JTF OPEP and OPFY at the outskirts of Saminaka in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The operation, prompted by auctionable intelligence from an intelligence agency in Plateau State, led to the recovery of 1,207 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition.  Armed men have abducted a young woman identified as Abubakar Adiza, daughter of a cattle herder, during an attack on their ranch at Otefon village in Oyo State. Zagazola gathered on Tuesday that the incident occurred on Sunday at about 10:10 p.m. when seven armed men stormed the residence of Mohammed Abubakar and his elder brother, Malili Yusuf, at Oniyo village via Oyo. The suspects reportedly forced their way into the house after ordering the occupants to open the door at gunpoint. They ransacked the rooms, stealing N30,000, four mobile phones, and some clothes before abducting Adiza. Sources said the abductors later used the victim’s phone to contact her family and demand ransom.  Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed 12 bandits during a clash at Mabai village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State. Zagazola gathered that the  incident occurred on Sunday at about 5:30 p.m., shortly after a peace accord meeting held at Kakumi village in Bakori LGA. Sources said that the bandits, while passing in front of a military base at Mabai, engaged the troops in a gun duel, leading to the death of 12 of the assailants. Two army personnel sustained serious injuries during the encounter and were referred to the Medical Centre in Katsina for treatment.  The Nigerian Army Troops  in Niger State have neutralised an unspecified number of armed bandits during a fierce gun battle along Tungan-Magajiya–Sabongari road. Zagazola Makama gathered that the encounter occurred on Oct. 12 at about 6 a.m. According to the sources, the bandits, who arrived in large numbers, engaged the troops in an exchange of gunfire, but were subdued with superior firepower. The sources  stated that several bandits were neutralised during the operation, while others fled with gunshot injuries. The sources added that the bandits fired at a military armoured personnel carrier (APC), damaging its four tyres, but there was no casualty recorded among the troops. Efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing criminals.

 The family of the late Bilyaminu Ahmed Bello has expressed deep disappointment over the recent presidential pardon granted to Maryam Sanda, who was convicted and sentenced to death for his murder in 2020. In a statement issued on Monday and signed by Dr. Bello Haliu Mohammed (OFR), Dangaladiman Gwandu, on behalf of the family, they described the clemency as an act that “inflicts inexorable pain” and reopens old wounds that had barely begun to heal. The family said that while they had chosen silence over the years out of respect for due process and the welfare of the two children of the deceased, the recent development had forced them to speak publicly. Sanda was convicted by the Federal Capital Territory High Court on Jan. 27, 2020, for the murder of her husband, Bilyaminu Bello, which occurred on Nov. 19, 2017. Police foil robbery in Abuja, kill one suspect

 The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have foiled a robbery attempt and killed one suspected robber during a gun duel in Giri Village, behind the University of Abuja Staff Quarters. Sources said the incident occurred at about 3:20 a.m. when armed robbers invaded the area. In a swift response, police patrol teams from Tungan Maje Division, in collaboration with members of the Civilian JTF and vigilantes, were mobilised to the scene and engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle. One of the suspects sustained bullet injuries and was rushed to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty, while others escaped. Items recovered from the scene include a POS machine, four mobile phones and a cutlass. The sources said efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.

Troops intercept hard drug couriers, rescue abducted victims in Zamfara

 Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with local vigilantes, have intercepted suspected logistics couriers transporting hard drugs and motorcycle spare parts from Lagos to Zamfara State. Nigerian Army said that the suspects were arrested during an operation by troops of 8 Division Garrison. The suspects have been handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation. In a related operation, troops of 1 Brigade responded to distress calls in Anka Local Government Area, rescuing abducted victims and neutralizing several terrorists during a pursuit.
